Chivda or Poha Chivda is a quick and easy tea time snack made with poha (flattened rice), peanuts, and spices and there are many different versions of making this mixture. Here, I have used fried onions the way my elder sister prepares.
Flattened rice or Poha is rice which is flattened into flat, light, dry flakes originating from the Indian subcontinent. Rice is parboiled before flattening so that it can be consumed with very little to no cooking. These flakes of rice swell when added to liquid, whether hot or cold, as they absorb water, milk or any other liquids.
Tip: There are different types of Poha, I have used medium thick Tata Sampan poha. Link in the description.
